I can't say it is quite what I was expecting...
[As she starts to record, Padmé offers a gentle smile. She is dressed in a manner that is known in her own galaxy but which might well seem a bit strange to others. Yet they are clothing of a style that she dons on a regular basis to Senate meetings- a thick rich layered gown of velvet with an ornate hair piece haloing her head.]
While I'm not certain how long I will remain here, I do admit that I haven't been planet-bound since I was younger, and even then, it was due to schooling.
[Her voice is soft but also strong and those brown eyes are drawn away from the feed, regarding the sky for a moment. It is an atmosphere that holds no meaning to her, at least as its stands, but there are some things in this place that she can understand, that are universal no matter where one is. She does begin to speak again, her focus still out there on that great unknown, wondering just what lays beyond... Yet her gaze is drawn back and she gives a little nod of her head, before making eye contact again.]
But hello. My name is Padmé Amidala, a Senator for the planet of Naboo, and I offer a greeting. It seems, if I am to understand correctly, that we are all here by the same means, caught in the same situation.
Since it seems I will be here for some time, I would be interested to hear more about the places you call home, for any willing to share.
[There is a genuine warmth in her voice and her smile grows.]
I would, of course, speak of my own as well, for those who wished to hear of it. I am curious to see just how far a reach this place has, and whether Naboo or Coruscant or even any of the other planets that make up the Galactic Republic are known to anyone here, as the galaxy is a very expansive place, to put it mildly.

One never knows unless one asks.
[The galaxy that they do know is quite large, but even that is but a drop in the bucket, most likely.]
Might I ask where you are from?
video
You're right. The only crime a person ever commits is not asking when they should. [ Archangel follows his words with a short, little laugh. ]
And I'm from Earth. [ His smile is a sardonic one before it softens to something a little kinder. ] Might I ask you a question, Senator? I promise you that it is not a trick question. But what do you think is the point of those in power?
I wonder if it is different than my own thoughts... the galaxy is large as you said... but I want to believe that the morals within us all are universal.

Her lips twitch, as she can agree. Padmé has never been one to go with the flow, if she believes that the flow is wrong. It is one of the many reasons as to why she has had attempts on her life.]
I'm not familiar with a planet with that name. It's mostly earth then, or a misnomer?
[Perhaps neither, for all she knows.
She does give a little nod though, before taking his words in to consideration.]
That depends upon which power you speak. Overall, and simplistically, I would say to protect those who cannot protect themselves.

Video | Un: Star-Lord
A pleasure, Senator Amidala. My name is Peter Quill but around the universe, they know me as Star-Lord. I'm one of the Guardians of the galaxy.
[ He offers a warm smile, sounding friendly and open just like her. ]
I've never heard of The Galactic Republic or visited Naboo but I'll like to know more. Talking about the planets we visited is our only comfort now that we're grounded. I wish I had my ship here. I'm from Terra, eh...Earth. But I haven't lived there in decades.
no subject
Guardians... Are you keepers of the peace where you're from them?
[As in turn, that is not a term that Padmé is familiar with. Then again, with so many planets and a war going on in the galaxy, there may well be an organization arising calling themselves that.
Although he clarifies a moment later.
There is of course the fact that Padmé does love her home planet, and the Republic as well, although she may be starting to get a bit dubious about it, especially as the war has continued to carry on for so long. The only way to win a war, is to never start it.]
Which do you prefer to be called?
[As that is the manner that Padmé would proceed in. Naboo does have a tradition of calling people by the name that they want to be called by. She does nod, a soft smile, knowing that she doesn't get home as much as she wants, but that doesn't change her love for Naboo.]
I fear I haven't been to my home planet much that often either. My duties tend to keep me quite occupied. I've only heard of Earth in passing here, as otherwise both mean, well, dirt or land to me.
no subject
Got it in one. That's why we try to do and sometimes we also help the Nova Corps with planetary threats.
[ He wonders if she's ever heard of them. Peter has asked the new people he's met in the city and so far none of them were familiar with the Corps. It's was strange but not terribly worrisome. Space is infinite after all. ]
Now that's not something I get asked often. [ Usually, people laugh first and then butcher the nickname to mock him. Her question make Peter's smile soften into a grateful look. ] Just Peter will do, miss. Might I ask you the same?
Ah, that's a pity. If you were so busy then maybe you can see being here as some sort of unexpected vacation. You're not really missing all that much about Earth, it can't compare to what's out there, the stars and nebulas are much more beautiful.

Hello. My name is Malcolm Bright. I'm from Earth. I'm guessing that you probably haven't heard of Earth.
[ He hasn't heard of the planets that she's mentioned, and in his short time here he's learned that when that's the case, they usually haven't heard of where he's from either. ]
Apparently the galaxy is a lot bigger than I realized.
no subject
Hello, Malcolm. No, in so much as it actually being the name of a planet and not just soil.
[But the smile grows larger.]
Quite.I fear I could only begin to name a few planets in the Republic, usually those I tend to deal with or have heard of through the Senate. There are those who have mapped, and are still mapping, still finding new information.
[Or they had been. Most things had been pushed to the side by the war, and Padmé doesn't even know if anyone is still currently exploring.]
no subject
[ It's kind of mindblowing to hear from so many people here that space travel is like getting into a car and driving to another city. ]
It's interesting that you call your governing body a Senate though, just like we do.

apologies for the tl;dr. he's having feelings
He knew only the worst parts of his grandfather's reign as Darth Vader and none of his life as Anakin Skywalker. He could see parts of his mother in her features: their brown hair, brown eyes that he shared with the both of them, and the shape of their faces - all the little things that made up Leia Organa and Padmé Amidala. She even spoke like his mother too, most likely due to her being a seasoned politician. He tried to find the words to say before responding and decided to focus on her introduction and invitation to hear others tell her about themselves.]
My name is Ben Solo. You aren't alone here. There are others from our Galaxy as well. I've been to Coruscant and other parts of the galaxy, but grew up on Chandrila.
[He's hesitant to open with the fact that he's from roughly 50 years into her future.]
no subject
It is why her focus does sharpen a little more, not quite the intense mask of a queen or even a senator, but curiosity does enlighten it.]
I do know of two, with whom I am acquainted back home. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker.
[And yes, there is still that keen interest, although more like than not he may have run across the two Jedi anyway, even if he hadn't known them before. His own name doesn't ring any bells for her, although his face does hold a certain familiarity that she cannot place.
But if there are others, Padmé has not come across them yet, or if she has, she just isn't aware that she has.]
no subject
[He isn't sure what else to say or how much, given that she doesn't know who he is to her. Instead he tries for caution. He studies her face, the way she carries himself, and has to bury his grief for his mother. They looked so much alike.]
They were both offering their services some time ago, though I don't know how much use a Jedi can have when things are so different here.
[He hasn't used his own lightsaber terribly much since coming here either. It made him happy to have somewhere he and Rey could exist without Palpatine's shadow lingering over them. He might be dead but they had learned the hard lesson that the man never let go of his grip even in death. They got the life they cold have had together, had he not died. He hoped his grandparents could have the same.]

[ She smiles, waving one of her face tendrils. ]
I am Minarii of Draenor and then Azeroth. I am a teacher of the little ones in magic, so not the politics.
no subject
[Naboo, with it's lushness, to Coruscant with it's one city that covers the whole planet, to Tatooine and it's sand.]
It's a pleasure. And by magics, what exactly do you mean?
no subject
[ There's a somewhat wan smile, remembering Draenor. ]
Ah, it is different in every world, so it is hard to explain. The magic of my world, it is from the arcane energy of the planets. We weave them into spells of different kinds, or use it raw.
[ She gathers some purplish arcane energy around her fingers. ]
You must be very busy in your home, yes? Politics, they are very draining.

My, aren't you fancy. I've never heard of your world, and I doubt you'd have heard of mind.
( A beat. )
That's probably for the best.

A statement like that deserves a follow up.

In typical evasive fashion, she answers: )
Does it? The more that goes without saying, the better, I'd say.

"Galactic Republic" sounds like a universe that has perfected space travel. Or am I presuming too much on that?
no subject
[Padmé had been surprised to find both Anakin and Obi-Wan here.]
No, you are correct, although perfected is perhaps pushing it a bit. We are able to move around from one planet to another.
no subject
[Ren you just met her, is now the time to break out the sass?]
When I first arrived and for some months after it was about ten, but we've lost some since then.
