[When Hijikata woke up on the 1st of the month he had a familiar simple pair of horns on his head. He still clung to the hope that he might just get different dragon traits this time around, but his pissy mood, the red moon that night, and his transformed ears and added tail the next morning made it clear that he got cattle traits again. It feels like a huge downgrade, and he's frustrated. But if there's a hidden logic behind this he wants to find out.]
Does anyone know what conditions need to be met for someone to get permanently exalted?
Has anyone been exalted and then gone back to unexalted? What did you do differently in the month before each change?

I am uncertain if there are conditions to acquiring such traits permanently.
Though I have been here for many months, my blessing has neither changed nor shifting, yet others who arrive

I was a bull, which sucked, then became a dragon, which was great, and now I'm a bull again. I want to see if did something to cause this, but so far everyone's replies seem to indicate that it's random.

Is it truly unpleasant being a bull? There is a rich and eclectic race in my home world known as "draphs." Their form is very much bovine-inspired, and they command great power and fighting ability. I am told they are also quite popular among both all sexes as romantic partners.

I've never seen a draph, but I believe you. It's not the appearance that I dislike, and I don't feel like others dislike it either, it's the mood it puts me in. I assume you're not a Sanguis? Many of us struggle with aggressive energy. When I got exalted last month it was completely different and I felt much better, that's why I want to get back to that.

There are a few instances I can think of, but I find it is better to learn about such behaviors by trying to perform them anyway. So long as no one is injured in the process, I see no harm. Did you have something in specific you were considering?

I hope it's okay that I message you since it's a little personal (at least for me). I was thinking that my exaltation being taken away might be a punishment for having sex. I know everyone keeps encouraging it, but I thought the moons (or gods, or whatever other forces control the moonblessings) may have different ideas.
[He refused to give in to all this bullshit throughout his first 1.5 months here, so the exaltation felt like a reward. It's not like he planned to sleep with anyone after that either, but a mix of circumstances led to it.]

If that were the case, then others would also lose their exalted traits upon engaging in intimacy. Have you witnessed this happening with anyone outside of yourself?

I haven't asked anyone about this in particular, but I assume it'd be common knowledge if it were the case. Also I'm pretty sure I met at least one exalted person in a romantic relationship, that would speak against this idea too. I guess I just jumped to the conclusion irrationally.

So far the only local deity he encountered - at least he thinks he qualified as one - was King Majestas, and Hijikata doubts that a guy who looks at Moonblessed as chroma generators and nothing more would bother granting them access to different forms and powers. Let's hope the moonblessings won't one day turn on us.
