[Someone is bored and has decided to just... Mess around with the network and see what answers she gets.

But of course, she does this anonymously because she's pretty sure she'll get better responses this way.]

So, going by some other posts I've seen on here recently? I've got to thinking about one little thing. Nothing like "What would you do if given the choice to stay or leave" or "What are these feelings I'm feeling" or anything of that sort.

I'm wondering what you all would consider the worst thing a person can do? And I don't mean something silly like "eat the last cookie" or anything like that, I mean something more along the lines of... Well. I can't really say or else none of you will give me your answers! (*´艸`*)

Because that's how humans work, they come first and damn anything that gets in their way?

No.

That way of thinking is just an excuse.

It being an excuse doesn't change the fact it can be true as well.

It's only true for those who think that it is. Those are the monsters who think that humanity would be better off replaced.

That isn't how humanity as a whole is.

Now now, calling your fellow humans monsters is a bit extreme don't you think?

And thankfully I find humans interesting, so I don't really think to replace them would be any fun.

When someone's actions are monstrous and they have thrown away their humanity, they are monsters.

Then basically everyone has the potential to become a monster using that logic.

And anyone has the chance to become human.

Not me, but that's simply because I'm not human in the first place.

That doesn't mean you couldn't live as one if you chose too.

Oh but I can't. I'm not allowed to.

What's stopping you?

The fact that back home I'm not allowed to exist outside certain situations.

It works when ones being is connected to a certain amount of data that has to be agreed upon being used by a load of old fuddy duddies who can't agree on anything except keeping the status quo.

You mean someone created a digital existence but didn't allocate enough resources to properly support it?

Are you at least free of that here?

Oh no one created it, it evolved. And there are enough resources, they just decide that I'm not worth being used.

And while I am disconnected from it, it also means I'm lacking some positive things that being connected to it as well.

If the resources exist, that makes no sense. Hell, we've gotten additional computers just to run simulations that took up more resources than we had anticipated, and those aren't anything even resembling self aware existences.

How big of a tradeoff is it?

Well it probably doesn't help that I'm an aberrant interface.

I do not have access to my powers, so I would say it's a pretty big trade-off.

If you've developed sentiance, whatever original function you were intended for shouldn't matter any longer.

What sort of powers?

Sadly that's not how the world works.

Well, the ability to manipulate the data of the world to create closed spaces in which I have complete control. Is one ability of mine.

Doesn't mean it's right. Or that it can't be changed.

Is there a lasting effect on the space that's been created? Or is it separate from existing space enough that there's no side effects to the world?

It can't be changed because the majority doesn't want it to change.

[She honestly agrees with him! But she knows how the Data Overmind is, so... Que Sera Sera.]

The only effect on the world is the one I'd want to have happen, so no. It has no effect on the world as the data can be easily returned to its previous state.

Interesting. Does it have form elasticity or does it need to be manually returned?

It has a little of both, depending on the amount of data changed it may require... Assistance to return to normal.
