I assume a human one. The simulation was very close to real life, so, I can see where that would make the most sense. At least, I have never experienced a situation where it wouldn't be human like.

That's how The Neo World Program worked. Those who were being treated would be uploaded into the system, and then once complete downloaded back into their bodies.

I don't really know much about the back end of things though... my older brother ran that, and my sister was more integrated into working with him....

I think it was the Super High School Level Neurologist, Super High School Level Therapist, and my father the Super High School Level Programmer.

I guess with a combination of the right people, anything can be done.
