Well, joining it isn't facing it, it's just being weak and rolling over.
So actually facing it is a start. You make plans and familiarise yourself with the enemy and organise your own forces. Evil isn't the only thing that can be strong enough to consume a world.

Evil is... a part of the universe, whether we like it or not. And I've seen it do more than consume a world, I've seen it destroy so many. But... you face it, head-on. I will never join it, but I know we'll always be fighting each other, we're drawn to one another.

I will always struggle against it and fight against it because there are so many wonderful, beautiful, amazing things in this galaxy to live and fight for.

there's no such thing as evil
there are people with different viewpoints and different values and different lengths they're willing to go to
no one legitimately considers themselves evil

except like, actual psychos there's this guy i know straight out of a movie who just wants to have a good time and to him a good time is stabbing and poisoning and murdering kids but like anyone who's sound of mind can't be evil, thats just what people call people who disagree with what they believe to be right

So someone who attempts to destroy the world isn't necessarily evil, unless they just happen to just enjoy what they're doing?

Good advice. Saves you a lot of trouble, like worrying about right or wrong.

Evil is putting your selfish desires above other people to the point you bring them to harm. There's definitely evil that can consume a world. I've seen it myself and I was almost controlled by it.

I can't tell you what to do. You have to make that choice for yourself, but for me?

I'll fight against that evil no matter what. I'll kick and scream and fight against it.

My reasons are more selfish than other people's though. It's not because it's wrong that I fight it but because I never want to be that weak me who could be controlled ever again.

Evil that can assume control of you. That's a whole new brand. Yet, I can imagine that is not as uncommon as one might think. Would you continue fighting even if the fight seemed impossible to win? No matter what you did, the tables wouldn't turn.

I believe there will always be good and that good should be supported. Yet ideas of good and evil vary greatly. I think you must follow your conscience in all things; that way, no matter the outcome, you have no regrets.

Make choices that leave you with least regrets might be a better way of putting it. I doubt there's anyone who can say they have no regrets - whether you follow your conscience or not. That or they're oblivious to them.

I can't provide a solid answer for your first question, but I'm well aware of multiple evils capable of world-consuming power. You make whatever compromises you can.

Other than the time all the gods united to seal away one such bad actor because he tried to destroy the entire universe, there's more nuanced ways of preventing them from unleashing total destruction.

Most of the time, those with the power to do so simply pit opposing factions against each other so that all their resources are squandered. Sure, more heroic types may chafe at the notion of letting evil live to see another day, but vanquishing the wicked has never been my foremost interest.

Keeping those I care for safe matters much more, and if that can be accomplished without a direct confrontation that risks the loss of innocent lives, it's not exactly a difficult question as to what I'd choose.

I never saw myself as the type to fight evil either. Nor do I see myself siding with them either. All I want is to ensure me and my people can live on like we want. I don't particularly care about which side wins.

Pitting the sides against each other would be a fine way to assure that peace we have lasts a while longer. Not that it would completely erase the problem, but it would certainly be interesting.

I suppose there could be some kind of magical force of evil out there or a monster that's just one hundred percent pure evil, but you can't exactly have any kind of moral debate with something like that. Thinking about something that abstract's a waste of time, really.

When it comes to people it's a pretty complicated question. Sure, there's heartless bastards who just get off on hurting people, or want power so much they don't care about who they have to step on to get it. But then there's the ones who can end up doing bad things because of the situation they've gotten stuck in, or because they have a good reason to do it. I wouldn't say the second type's necessarily evil at heart, and they might be able to change if they get the chance.

Fighting something powerful enough to threaten the whole world's a job for the heroic types who know what they're doing though, not a guy like me. I'd just keep my head down and try to keep the people I care about from doing something stupid and getting themselves killed.

Sure, people can change. It's not easy and sometimes they might fall back on their decision, but it has happened. Surely those who are definitely evil wouldn't even want to try, unless it was for greater evil cause. I can definitely agree with keeping away from the fight and making sure those you care for are safe. It's better to do that than end up as one of the victims of the cause.

I would never join that which brings despair, I will always hold true to hope. And as for facing it, there's no need to worry. Hope always wins!
