I held myself to pretty high standards of dignity back home, myself, but it always felt stifling. But the only people here from my world either already know or wouldn't care that it's an act, so I guess you could say I'm taking this as a bit of a vacation from cultivating my image.

I suspect many may feel the same way. You sound better now than you did when you originally were seeking to offer apologies. If I'm to be taking anything away from this, that is.

I do feel much better now that I've actually talked to the people I encountered. It's even given me some new perspectives to think about, that hadn't occurred to me before.

That's good, then. It'd be a shame for anyone to be unhappy while they were away on 'vacation.'

Well, I do have to accept that sometimes unpleasant things will come up. The citizens here have been very welcoming to us, and I want to pay them back for that.

Did it ever occur to you that some people simply don't want to? Not doing so isn't mutually exclusive with not being suited for it. How presumptuous of you, Akechi-san.

Being capable but averse still counts as not being suited. There are a lot of reasons someone might avoid fighting, even if they are confident in their chances of winning.

I don't agree with that. I'm perfectly capable. I simply choose not to. Why should I do it when the rest of you are already so willing? Something something you humans have about too many chefs in the kitchen or some such.

Too many cooks spoil the broth.

So, it's less of an aversion, and more of a belief that it's not necessary and woudl just add more complication to battles we're fully capable of winning without your involvement?

It's not an aversion. I have no opinions on combat. I am neither for it nor against it. I'm capable, probably more than many people here with or without their Moonblessed talents. I simply choose not to. It's not to my benefit, I'm not hero, and I'm not interested in being one. I am more the sort to delegate responsibility.

So, you consider yourself more of a planner, then?

That can have multiple meanings. I've had bad experiences with people involved in politics back home, though...I do acknowledge that they came about as a result of people showing an utter lack of regard for the responsibility that comes with a leadership position.

It means I'm not interested in doing anything I don't have to do. I do what I please and nothing more, regardless of who it might be for.

And what about the effect it has on your subjects?

None of you are my subjects.

I expect you all to be able to handle yourselves. If you can't, for whatever reason, I expect to be told.
