fourth ☕✨ text (AMA! un: mercy)
Hello, Lunatia! I hope this finds you all well. I'm Dr. Angela Ziegler, if we've yet to have the pleasure. The doctor who owns the Second Nature (Free) Clinic on the beach in level 2.
I have seen a lot of new faces of late and quite the number of questioning entries, as well as some other Q&As, so I thought that I would offer one a little more... medically professional? And from someone who has been here for a year, now.
I'm sure it is quite disorienting here at times and I would like to offer some peace of mind and an open venue to ask anything you'd like, whether it's about this place or its changes, pre-existing medical concerns, how to administer a massage for a partner, what goes into cybernetics, creating a swedish torch as the weather warms up for hiking, or even simply just coffee shop recommendations. Everyone is welcome to try me.
If even posting anonymously is a bit too much, you are free to contact me privately as well.
( ooc: "trauma surgeon, combat medic, former CMO of a peacekeeping organization, prosthetics/cybernetics specialist, and coffee aficionado, AMA!" time! why is blizzard like this she's so much... please feel free to private lock replies to assume messaging her on the side, remember your content warnings in subject titles for Risky Business topics, ask others' permission before threadjacking, and go wild! )

What would happen if I injected a mix of wasabi sauce and nitroglycerin in someone?
KACCHAN..............
Did you know that nitroglycerin can be used as a vasodilator for anginal attacks and even for rectal use to aid in healing? But swallowing it or injecting it anywhere else in the body renders it null.
Why the wasabi sauce?
HE REGRETS THIS...
as he should, comin in here talkin abt injecting ppl with wasabi!!!

But I don't sell medical equipment. There are places here that do, associated with the hospitals and Prismal clinics.
Should I be concerned?

Leading up to a medical question. Can moonblessing "traits" show up without anything physical to show for it? "Physical" being... animal parts. Or something.
no subject
Would that medical question to follow be about reproductive organs?
( ANGELA NO )
But the short answer is yes. Sometimes, though it seems to be quite rarely, people have only been affected by the emotional aspects. The increased aggression, or the self-indulgence, and so on. They haven't all shown physical traits, but those physical traits also fluctuate and we're not quite sure why. Sometimes it's a minor change and sometimes a major one, sometimes fully-bestial, sometimes a different animal equivalent entirely.
And sometimes, like myself and quite a few others, the moon's influence we're under simply changes without warning. I was Iris for about eight months here, before Sanguis' influence took over. That has been the last five or so months.

I already had the chance to traumatize one of the boys that comes to help me at the clinic. ✨
How have you been, Naofumi?

What is a Swedish torch? And what is the best coffee shop you know of, for solo appreciation?
[ He manages to restrain his smartass-edness from asking how one signs up to try her. Barely. ]

A Swedish torch is a self-sustaining campfire technique with an upright log. It's perfect for damp ground and places without much kindling, if you happen to come across any felled trees or bring one with you in preparation. And they're easy to cook on.
As for coffee shops, there is one on Level 1 without a name; the awning is cream-colored on a the business block to the left of the Level Transport system. It has a wonderful view of the fountain in the main square.
Then there is "The Right Blend" by the academy; the staffing can be a bit short-tempered, but they're just no-nonsense. Both places are quite excellent.
( Pssh Harry, don't hold back on her account. The oldbies gotta stick together! Nevermind she probably doesn't look a day over 25; she has a decade on that and change. )

I would say with rather intimate moonlacing and a touch of first aid to stem hemorrhaging, most wounds can be healed in a matter of hours, provided the person doesn't bleed out first or there is no significant organ damage. Grievous injury where someone would expire within minutes to an hour may not be able to be healed with moonlacing. But there are other ways to help someone badly injured.

...Do you have any experience with prosthetics?
no subject
Quite a lot, actually.
I'm a trauma and restorative surgeon where I've come from. I work in war relief; prosthetics and cybernetics are unfortunately quite common even for the civilians living in war-torn areas.
How can I help?

a. Pneumococci (Streptococcus pneumoniae) are alpha-hemolytic and can be serotyped on the basis of their polysaccharide capsule
b. Enterococci are group D streptococci and can be classified by their ability to grow 6.5% sodium chloride
c. Viridans streptococci are identified by Lancefield grouping, which is based on the C carbohydrate in the cell wall
d. Although pneumococci and the viridans streptococci are alpha-hemolytic, they can be differentiated by the bile solubility test and their susceptibility to optochin
[Is he getting help from her for his homework? Yes. The answer is also C.]

Why don't we take to the lab and find out?
It shouldn't be too hard of a task to reverse engineer some bacteria from the data stored in my nanites.
Then you can rule out markers and take a few tests on your own.

That would be dependent on a couple of different things. Firstly, if the pain is a result of the weight of the wings stressing the muscles or if it's more a matter of tendons, if there's damage to the muscles or tendons surrounding the shoulderblades, and if it's a matter of tears in the muscle fibers or simply inflammation. The latter will feel quite warm to the touch compared to the rest of the body.
There are anti-inflammatory medications that can be taken for pain relief from muscle pain, but if it is anything else, it will require a deal of rest and careful massage and tending as one heals. Is this a temporary concern to align with lunar effects, or something natural to the person of concern?

I'm very glad to hear your companion returned; I told you it wasn't a lost cause, hmm?
I would be more than happy to provide some lessons. Do you know about the most common tension areas?
Ideally, you would come in knowing what will be most beneficial for her so that I can teach you a specific area, such as the neck and shoulders, or the back, or if she's ever injured a leg and it gives her grief depending on the weather— things like that.
It will make for easier lessons to imbibe if I'm not trying to explain the entire body. 🤭

...is it true that people poop when they die?
[This is of utmost importance.]

Well, it depends on how long it has been since the person had last used the restroom and ate properly, but almost always, yes. I'm sure you know about muscles, like on your arms and legs, that allow you to move, right?
There are also muscles inside the body that assist in any number of things, and they continue to work even while you sleep or when you're unconscious. Things like keeping everyone from "relieving themselves" just to have bumped their head or for taking a nap.
