fourth ☕✨ text (AMA! un: mercy)
Hello, Lunatia! I hope this finds you all well. I'm Dr. Angela Ziegler, if we've yet to have the pleasure. The doctor who owns the Second Nature (Free) Clinic on the beach in level 2.
I have seen a lot of new faces of late and quite the number of questioning entries, as well as some other Q&As, so I thought that I would offer one a little more... medically professional? And from someone who has been here for a year, now.
I'm sure it is quite disorienting here at times and I would like to offer some peace of mind and an open venue to ask anything you'd like, whether it's about this place or its changes, pre-existing medical concerns, how to administer a massage for a partner, what goes into cybernetics, creating a swedish torch as the weather warms up for hiking, or even simply just coffee shop recommendations. Everyone is welcome to try me.
If even posting anonymously is a bit too much, you are free to contact me privately as well.
( ooc: "trauma surgeon, combat medic, former CMO of a peacekeeping organization, prosthetics/cybernetics specialist, and coffee aficionado, AMA!" time! why is blizzard like this she's so much... please feel free to private lock replies to assume messaging her on the side, remember your content warnings in subject titles for Risky Business topics, ask others' permission before threadjacking, and go wild! )

A Swedish torch is a self-sustaining campfire technique with an upright log. It's perfect for damp ground and places without much kindling, if you happen to come across any felled trees or bring one with you in preparation. And they're easy to cook on.
As for coffee shops, there is one on Level 1 without a name; the awning is cream-colored on a the business block to the left of the Level Transport system. It has a wonderful view of the fountain in the main square.
Then there is "The Right Blend" by the academy; the staffing can be a bit short-tempered, but they're just no-nonsense. Both places are quite excellent.
( Pssh Harry, don't hold back on her account. The oldbies gotta stick together! Nevermind she probably doesn't look a day over 25; she has a decade on that and change. )
no subject
Nice! I definitely would love to know how to do that. Saving Chroma means less fire magic.
I will be sure to check them out. Do you have a favorite?
[ Harry still has his hang ups, and is slowwwww to let go. Even when his dirty mind starts filling in the blanks. ]

As for the Swedish torch, you just split it in quarters or sixths without chopping all the way through. You can rough up the inside edges with the hatchet to catch the falling embers and slow its burn. But it aerates itself and doesn't require any feeding. It's a bit easier to imagine with a photo.
( She'll attach a picture from the last time she went hiking here, before winter dug its claws in. )
You can make it with a bundle of sticks in the same shape, as well. As for my favorite cafe, I am partial to "The Right Blend"— one of the servers there is a friend of mine, so it's nice to stop in and see him. I'm always happy to have good conversation if you'd ever like company. It's not too far from my clinic, so I stop in often. Especially if you happen to like therapy dogs in training.
( She'd understand completely, don't worry. Her long-term partner in this place disappeared the other month; the only difference being she knows she can't pull away from the act of moonlacing. It's survival, plain and simple. Angela is just good-natured and enjoys teasing, keeping her spirits up with playful tenacity. )

And a pleasure to talk to you, too, Angela.
[ He listens, but perks up at the last. ]
I very much do. I miss my pup from home. I will definitely be glad to keep you company some time. Since I am still working 0on finding a steady job, beautiful distractions are welcome.
[ He's not yet come to grips, so to speak, with this place's reality. ]

( She's teasing, honest. She isn't the type to push agendas on others, nor would she ever willingly encourage someone into dangerous work like that. )
Then I will gladly bring this little boy along, but no promises he won't nip; he's still teething. What is yours like?
And how do you know whether or not I'm beautiful? Unless you've happened past the clinic. That could have been my coworker.
no subject
[ He chuckles. ]
Considering that I generally try to stop wars? Yeah, uh, it wouldn't be a hard sell.
[ And he means it. He hates war and suffering, and stopping it? That is exactly his thing. His blood sings just thinking about it. ]
A giant kind and gentle monster named Mouse. He's back home, watching over my daughter.
[ He shakes his head. ]
I don't. But for me, it's the mind that makes one beautiful, not the body, and you already qualify.
[ He doesn't mean it as flirting or anything else, just truth. ]

See, now, you do the hard work. I only do the cleanup. I'm sure it isn't easy in the least; I can respect the effort and sacrifice even without knowing of your when.
( He sounds like a good person, which just happen to be her favorite. (Naturally.) The mention of a dog named Mouse, however, and she immediately imagines a large critter. )
He must be enormous with a name like "Mouse". How old is your daughter? I'm sorry to hear you've been separated, though at least she isn't alone.
And I certainly can't argue with that when I believe the same. You must be a bombshell.
no subject
I don't think the cleanup is in any way easy.
[ He grins at her as he answers her text, smiling more as he does so. ]
He is, now. He started out as a wee thing that scampered everywhere and grew into a dog that is as big as me, which... doesn't mean anything yet, but once you see me, you will understand.
[ He flushes, then types again. ]
Careful, doc. Words like that could turn a guys head.
no subject
And perhaps it isn't, no, but it's the least we can do for one another.
( Speaking of big dogs is a far kinder topic than war. Her investment will be right over here, now, attaching a photo of her particular little beast. All legs, and only a few months old, but the size of his paws promises great things. )
I'll be looking forward to meeting you, then. But only so I can picture your dog, you understand; it's best not to get the wrong impression. 😉
Will it set your head back on straight if I reassure you that I'm spoken for?

[Harry nods as he looks at the picture and smiles. It reminds him of Mouse, very much, and he wishes he had Mouse with him right now, though he would never pull the God boy away from guarding Harry's daughter- - - not a chance ever. But he can admire the small little dog. At the doctor's words he laughs.]
Of course I understand. [At that her last statement, he sighed. Well, of course that's how it is, and he simply types out.]
I was joking mostly but that is good to know. Congratulations.

Oh, don't be too disheartened. I can't very well call myself a doctor of this place if I outright refused to offer a healing touch, and I love people too much to change how I already am. This place just about mandates touch as necessary and I've always been a tactile person. It's universal, touch. You don't need to speak the same language to comfort someone with an embrace. And a smile is worth a thousand words.
It just means my heart isn't to be snatched up. 🤭

[ He grins, shaking his head. Someday, he will get used to this place, but for now, he still is not, and he... does not respond to part of that. ]
There's nothing wrong with that, at all.

I do hate leaving scars.
And we're still on for coffee. Do you think you'll be free this afternoon? My friend takes over the clinic around 1500.
no subject
I've already got plenty of those.
I am definitely free. Still looking for work and new here, so, yeah.
See you around 1515-ish?

( She doesn't say "someone better"; she doesn't know the first letter of his story. Hasn't even flipped the book over to read the endorsements. But someone different, yes. That can apply to any flavor of love lost, can't it? )
Well, even if I'm not the first, I hope I can say "welcome to Lunatia". And 1515 it is.
