You know what's a damn shame?

I been here a year and I still ain't found anywhere that makes decent pecan pie.

I know I can always make my own. Reckon I can't complain too much about not findin' hometown cookin' on an alien planet, but... mhn. Still miss that diner down on 71 towards Austin. Mateo made pie so good you'd climb a dang power pole for seconds.

General poll, 'cause I got nothin' better to do. You miss any kinda food from home? Diner cookin', mama's cookin', anything.

Although now that I think about it, I never actually got to try the pies in Georgia.

Hm. I'm not picky about pizza when I think about it. Got used to some subpar stuff between jobs. I was a roughneck for about ten years. You'll eat anything some days.

never thought id say this but the rainy day beef bowl special at Aiya’s. thing was like a portal to some other dimension, ive never seen the bottom but its super tasty. makes u sink 3000¥ if u dont finish tho.

Can't say I'm familiar, but that sounds damn good. Haven't had a beef bowl in a long time.

it's only my hometown so it's all good. i'd go for any beef bowl really, but that place was kinda special. probably because of how ridiculous it was. my partner was able to finish it, or so he says.

One of those things then. Reckon I could probably do that - if I was 20 years younger.

Now let me know if I'm mistaken - beef bowls are a Japanese thing, right?

There's this place a few blocks from the hospital where I worked, they had a cherry pie to die for.

Now I just want pie.

Or maybe I'm just biased for folks in my life cooking for me.

Man... I hadn't thought it about it for years, but my dad's grilled rice balls with bonito flakes. I can make 'em myself but there's just somethin' about havin' someone else make it for you, huh?

Ain't had a rice ball in a long time, but that sounds pretty good.

You're not kiddin', though. I think we get somethin' of a bias when other people cook for us. Ma's and Pa's usually got the best food.

Dad's the one who taught me to cook when I was really little, and now I've got a restaurant here, so it sure didn't go to waste. I'd still kill to have one'a his meals right now, though.

Y'know, I haven't actually tried to make pie before, now that I'm thinkin' about that.

Not really. All the food in this world is very unique with all kinds of different flavors. Some I never had before while others feel like upgraded versions of my head chef's recipes.

And I love the way my head chef cooks to boot!

[But if there is something she does miss....]

I suppose I do miss the ability to visit other towns and cities and finding their local specialties. Those are usually filled with all kinds of surprises in flavor and appearance!

Fair 'nough. This place's got a heap of interesting stuff. Different worlds, different experiences, all that. If you're missing the exploration, though, you can probably look at what other moonblessed like from their own worlds. Ain't quite the same as actually bein' somewhere new, but you still get different takes on how food works.
