So, it turns out that something hilarious can happen here if you decide to celebrate your birthday here based on "how long you've been alive" instead of just what the calendar date says because the month was different back home when you first got pulled into a different world.
So yep, forgot my eighteenth birthday was on Monday. Which is dumb, because I remembered last year's, but apparently I put the reminder on this thing wrong and it didn't repeat it this year.
But anyway, enough about me being dumb about my birthday, being here for two of them made me think of something.
Just how many of us who are here have actually been here for over a year? I mean, I know there's some of us, but I don't think many of us have mentioned it before.
And... well... is anyone else here not sure what they'd do if they were given a choice about going home, instead of just vanishing and showing up back there?
[She meant that last question more for those of them who have been here a while, but really there's no reason to limit it to just them. There's probably plenty of reasons that someone who just got here would want to stay rather than go home, after all. ]

The only way I'm ever willingly going back there is with an army to overthrow the entire place.
[Sorry Ryoko. Even after over a year Duplicity is still a big sore spot for her. ]

Though the government here makes that other place's seem even more evil than it already did. Because here the government actually has a reason to use as an excuse to try to force us into having as much sex as possible and they don't.
It'd still be wrong and completely evil for them to do that, but it would've made sense. Duplicity's government just was evil for the sake of it, as far as I could tell.

Your case.
[Now what, this is a bit awkward so... Poorly timed subject change?]
Also happy late birthday, by the way.

And, uh... sorry for bringing that up. Probably shouldn't have said all that stuff. [ Even if she really didn't need to go into that much detail. Anyway, yes, the subject change was probably good and she shouldn't change it back.]
So, uh, stuff that happened at the end of last month aside, how have you been since we last talked?
no subject
[At least she assumes.]
Ah yes... The end of the month, hahaha. [She coughs.] Things are well on my end, lost my roommate but other than that nothing horrible has happened, yourself? Beyond having had your birthday pass that is.

[ Granted, again, it's not really something that you can just get over. Either way, not something she wants to bother someone she doesn't know all that well with.]
Sorry to hear about your roommate. But yeah, I've been... well, fine these last couple of weeks. Kinda tired and recovering from said end of the month stuff, but nothing bad happened.

[It doesn't bother Asakura as much as it probably should, but hey she's kind of weird like that.]
It happens, maybe I'll find a new one someday. And it's good to hear nothing bad has happened, considering how crazy this place can get sometimes.

[ But at least last time wasn't anything trying to kill them. Even if most of them did end up going to the point of total exhaustion.]

[Because going at it at the level the runes wanted was certainly a thing, yep.]

I know exactly what you mean there. I was out of it for like, half a week after everything. [ At least she was after she had gotten back from the crater, anyway. ]
no subject
That's pretty long, but at least it was just half a week.

[Though really, she's been in situations where the recovery time should've been a lot worse, so she does find it a little funny that a whole bunch of sex is what actually got her to take a few days of rest. ]

True, true. Then I'm glad your recovery wasn't concerning.
