So, it turns out that something hilarious can happen here if you decide to celebrate your birthday here based on "how long you've been alive" instead of just what the calendar date says because the month was different back home when you first got pulled into a different world.
So yep, forgot my eighteenth birthday was on Monday. Which is dumb, because I remembered last year's, but apparently I put the reminder on this thing wrong and it didn't repeat it this year.
But anyway, enough about me being dumb about my birthday, being here for two of them made me think of something.
Just how many of us who are here have actually been here for over a year? I mean, I know there's some of us, but I don't think many of us have mentioned it before.
And... well... is anyone else here not sure what they'd do if they were given a choice about going home, instead of just vanishing and showing up back there?
[She meant that last question more for those of them who have been here a while, but really there's no reason to limit it to just them. There's probably plenty of reasons that someone who just got here would want to stay rather than go home, after all. ]

Last month was one year here for me, time flies fast I guess.
Yeah, seriously not sure what I'd do in a complicated situation like that.
no subject
And yeah, I know. I almost can't believe it myself. I think me being here for one year was back in May. [ Though again, that's only here. ]
And yeah, like I said I'm not really sure what I'd do either. I mean, my Dad's back home, and I have a couple of friends from school. My boyfriend's here with me but we're from the same world. And I have a lot more friends here than I ever did at home.
no subject
Oh yeah, it'd be amazing to see my parents and friends and people, who are like family to me... Though having my girlfriend and our best animal friend here missing them too much. I'm glad you have your boyfriend and more friends here, those help a lot! And I guess I am from a good point back home but it's going to get really bad very soon, so uh, yeah not really interested in going back to that anytime soon.

If I had a choice I'd stay, because going home is a bit of a losing situation for me.
voice
I see. I'm sorry that you're in that type of situation. I mean, I might be conflicted, but at least going home for me's not a bad situation.
... As long as the way it works is actually "go home" and not "go back to where you got pulled from". If it's the later than I'm in the same position as you.

And, um...well, I know what my choice would be, I think, but my circumstances are kind of unusual. I know exactly what I'd be going back to, so...it's not really that much of a choice at all.
no subject
And yeah, the question was more for people who aren't in a position where any option other than staying here is really the only choice. I'm sorry that going home isn't a real option for you though.

I'm not sure what I would do either! There's pros and cons to both being back in my world and here, but I think right now I'm very okay with being here!
text
And yeah, that's really the issue. I really don't want to leave everyone that I know here, but at the same time I feel a little bad for not just wanting to go home and see my Dad again. And the couple of friends I have there.
[ It's... well, honestly a bit of a shock to realize that she might be happier here than back home.]

But only under the circumstances that I, along with anyone else who wants to make the choice to go home gets to keep our memories.
no subject
I don't blame you. I really don't like the idea of forgetting everything if I do go back home myself. Or time not having passed, for that matter.
... Though I guess if time did still pass back home while we were here I'd be less conflicted about my feelings about it.

I was someplace else other than home before I came here, and now I'm not even sure if my home is still the same home I left behind!
But it'd be nice to see everyone again I guess.
[A conspicuous, somewhat awkward pause.]
Have you been okay?

[ She totally understands why that second message took a while.]
Yeah, I'm fine. Was really tired for the first week of the month though.

I'm at about 10 months, myself.
If I was given the choice to go back to my world, I think I would be more likely to instead request that the people there be brought here. But then you broach the subject of bringing people against their own will, that kind of thing.
Overall an odd situation.

[ Don't get her wrong, if her Dad showed up here she'd basically have no reason to want to leave, but she wouldn't want to bring him here just because she missed him.]

It's a bit strange to think that in less than a week's time I'll have been here for exactly one year. It'll also be a year since we first met as well!
And, while I can understand why while some would be reluctant to leave here, or not leave at all, I believe I would still choose to go home. I've met a lot of incredible friends here but I have family back home that I want to get back to some day.
no subject
Yeah, I get that. I really do. My dad's probably the only reason right now I'm unsure rather than being completely sure I'd want to stay here.
... Well, that and I'm pretty sure my boyfriend would want to go home if he were given the choice. If only there were some way for us to go back and forth between here and home. That'd solve pretty much everything.

As for your questions, well, you know how long I've been here. Going home... well, I still really want to, but I'd hate to lose the memories I've made here if I do, now.
no subject
And yeah, I know where you stand on this. Though since you're used to traveling between worlds if we manage to keep our memories you'd probably have the best chance of finding all your friends from here again. [ Not to mention, you know, Riku no longer being here.]
... Anyway, I probably should've asked about this earlier this month, but do you want to meet up somewhere? After... last month I think we have some stuff we need to talk about.

[Yeah, she notices that he didn't actually answer her question, but considering the state that she knows he's in, she doesn't really blame him too much. ]

So is there anything you're looking forward to doing once you're recovered?

Happy belated birthday! [Only in a situation like this could he ever get away with somehow not remembering her birthday, most likely...]
And well, I don't know if I could decide, really. About going back home or staying if given a choice.
