I guess this is more for those of us who come from worlds where there's some catastrophe or some world-ending thing happening and you're generally working to try and save your world from aforementioned catastrophe ...

I've been here for a few months now, and I kind of feel like I don't know what to do with myself. I went from having too much to do, too much to worry about, and now I'm in a position where I don't have that anymore (with the exception of the occasional weirdness that happens here, of course). I think I've read enough books that I've probably caused myself some major eye strain in the months I've been here, but otherwise I'm not exactly sure what to do with myself.

Does anyone else feel kind of like this? I think it might help me feel better to know I'm not alone in this.

That's usually true, yeah. It's probably not a bad thing to be prepared for something, but it's still annoying.

Have you considered the hot springs? I have heard they can make anyone relax.

I haven't been to a hot spring in a while! I wonder if my friend would be up to a trip ... It sounds like a pretty great idea even if he isn't.

Still, I need to find something to do with my time here. Hot springs can only do so much to help. I'm just not sure how to go about figuring out what I can do around here when things are relatively quiet.

Have you taken a profession? I find that having regular responsibilities helps, even if they are far less responsibility than usual.

I haven't. I'm not sure what I could even do as far as that goes. I don't have a lot of experience in too many things outside of magic.

Maybe. Back home, I think magic was more of a case of being born with an innate ability to use it or not, so I'm not sure I'd be able to teach someone who didn't already have an aptitude for it to begin with.

And even then, there are so many people from so many different worlds here. That would mean a bunch of different styles of magic that I wouldn't know about at all.

I do think that idea is on the right track, though.

The differences between types of humans are fascinating. Some have magic as an innate ability, some learn it, some have no magic at all...

Yeah. Magic is a pretty fickle thing, especially among multiple worlds. I'm not surprised, really.

So I take that comment to mean you're not human?

[ She's not really judging, she knows people in her personal friend group who aren't human and they're honestly better than most humans. ]
