hello. zuko here. a couple things:

1. for some people chroma is really difficult or weird or uncomfortable. a lot of people come from hard worlds, with difficult lives at home that aren't so touchy-feely like this, and it's hard to adjust, especially for new people. on the 20th of every month there's a social support group for anyone touch-averse to avoid the awkwardness, still get chroma, and have a mutual understanding between everyone there.

there's also private talk therapy with a professional doctor available. there will be free food, a raffle for a prize, scary movies, a haunted house, and a bonfire. meet at the community center, runs all evening. you can wear costumes if you want. anyone can come, alone or with a friend, just be respectful of others' space, thats why we're there. easy icebreaker for easy chroma and a way to meet new people and feel some support maybe. contact me or otonashi (un: otoproxy) if you have questions.

2. i'm looking for people to play some sports from my home, we need at least six more.
one is a team game called kuai ball, which i guess is like volleyball... simple rules, hard game.

the other is a Fire Nation children's game called Hide and Explode, it's a stealth/strategy game, like tag but you hide and make traps around your hiding spot with lots of little bombs, it's fun. i swear it's safe, kids play it (just don't throw the bombs AT people, hurts)

3. oh and i just saw movies for the first time
i watched Kill Will and Mad Matt: Rage Road

yeah. i forgot a lot of things. i forgot i even had powers.

oh, i remembered before that. once i remembered who i was, everything else came back.

oh. thats good then i guess. so this place didn't take your powers or your memories.
was it like amnesia from an injury or something...? or did your powers get sealed somehow? how'd you get them back?

it was complicated. but you could say a friend helped me find myself again.

i see. same when i lost my powers. i'd lost myself in a sense then, too. regained my powers when i rediscovered what kind of person i want to be, reclaimed my destiny. with the help of friends.
but it can't happen like that here. no goals here.

why do you say you don't have goals here/

theres nothing to strive toward. nothing i can do to change our fates. the only thing i can change is my own routine. work. home. hobbies. hang out with friends. maybe moon shit happens. repeat. just a regular life, a mundane life ive never had before. but we're trapped here no matter what, it's just a waiting game til we're sent home and forget everything about this world.
at home there was a war going on and we were very close to ending it. here... theres nothing important for me to fight for. no reason to fight at all. i feel lost.

there is a war going on here. it's just harder to notice. and what we're doing is helping the people who won't be able to go anywhere else like the rest of us. i'm not sure what sort of goals can be built around that. but even if we forget, we still helped someone.

i know. you're right. but we're still helpless even as we're helping. that's disconcerting.

yeah, that part's frustrating.

it's easier to resign to our fate but it makes me restless
its hard to believe some people have been here over a year... i'll go crazy if i do.

i've been here about that long now. it's worse when most of your friends go back.

that hasn't happened to me yet but i've heard about it. that's horrible.
did people from your home come and go, too?

a lot of them. i know they're safer back in our world. i just wish we could be together.

oh. that’s rough.
i miss my friends and even though it’s safer here, i don’t wish they were here, just in case our destinies aren’t frozen... they’re needed at home. but if they came I’d be happy to be together again of course.

kairi says time stands still while we're here. or at least when we go back, it will be like we were never gone.

yes ive heard this too. seems true. it’s vaguely comforting. enough to feel complacent like everyone else most of the time. it’s like living in a daydream. a side life. it’s nothing like my life at home. arguably better. but i still don’t feel comfortable delaying my destiny. I know I’m needed there.

i can't say i know what it's like to have a destiny.

everyone has a destiny.

what does that mean/

the way your life unfolds to fulfill the nature of your character. if you go against your destiny, and reject the potential of your true self, you make your life more painful.
