[Lunatia's resident centaur lady is back on screen, and this time she's sharing the spotlight with... a table full of fresh vegetables? Still a bit dirty, fresh from the soil, good ol' vegetables... That Konoha bows over to start out.]

Hello, everyone! My name is Konoha... I'm a jinba, or a "centaur" if you want... I'm from Echigo in Japan, but lots of people say I'm from the past...

[She's just going to do the same introduction every time, counting off details on her fingers to make sure she gets all the good points... there's too many people on this thing and she doesn't check it enough to keep track... oops. Anyway-]

I wanted to ask people some questions about food! My husband and I have set up a little farmstead, but the crops are growing, um, way faster than they really ought to be... [we're just going to speed past the blush] and it's not like we actually have to work for money here, so I was thinking of not just taking the crops to market but... serving meals at the house? Or sending them to people elsewhere in the city? I don't know, but I've met a lot of people here who said they just eat food from the stores, and I know those are really convenient, but it can't be better than a home cooked meal, can it?

[Look at this big turnip! Isn't it healthy looking?! Don't you just want to eat it?? Konoha smiles, making the root vegetable dance around the screen.]

So... can I ask you some questions about what sort of food you like? Or what kind of things you miss from your home? Maybe what they make in your country with vegetables? If you give me some of your time, I'll send you some fresh ones as a "thank you"-

Promise!

[One last bow... and she and the turnip sign off.]

[oh, this is lovely. Goddess bless you, centaur friend...]

Ah, that is an absolutely wonderful idea. I like vegetable and seafood dishes, especially if they've got a bit of spice to them. There's nothing as of yet I can't get here that I miss from home outside of certain varieties of wild game, but I have been enjoying trying things that are unfamiliar to me enough that it's not bothering me all that much.

Ah, that is a bit of a shame. I know some people don’t particularly like fish, but it’s definitely very tasty when prepared correctly. Of course, I lived by the coast for a time, and when I relocated to the monastery we had a well-stocked fishing pond, so I was never really without.

I have a slight preference for wild pheasant, but boar is delicious, as well. Boar hot pot does sound delicious...

Ah, I prefer it fried, personally. But, well... I wouldn’t describe myself as a monk, necessarily, but even so, I’d imagine our monks are different from yours.

[hm...]

I’m not terribly familiar with how other religions handle it, but the Church of Seiros doesn’t impose dietary restrictions on its followers.

[Seteth has had enough practice no-selling things that “Seiros must be really forgiving” doesn’t cause him to break out into laughter or, more accurately, let out a very long-suffering sigh and stare into the middle distance...]

Ah, well, Saint Seiros is more of a messenger on behalf of the Goddess, who is the true arbiter in matters such as these. Ultimately, I believe the biggest restrictions consistent with her teachings would be that you avoid needless cruelty and that you do not kill and eat other beings capable of intelligent thought.

Yes, I agree. I think many of the Goddess’s teachings essentially boil down to common sense and basic kindness and courtesy to others, but many people seem to miss the forest for the trees...

Oh, it's a saying. It means missing the actual point because you have been distracted by the small details.

I think you just got confused by an unfamiliar idiom.
baitless: a peacefully happy expression, i think. (thinkin' about fishing.)

[...you know what, he’ll just smile fondly.]

Yes, precisely.

In any case, I do wish you luck in your endeavors, and I hope you get the chance to experience many new things here, particularly in the culinary department.

I hope to, yes. I’m definitely looking forward to it.
