Video | un: Оцелотовая Хватка (Forward dated start of Cordis)
[The video feed opens with a small cat perched on it's haunches in front of the device in, obviously filming from one of the standard apartments. Eagle eyed viewers could probably spot some thin wires in the background threaded taut between walls and furniture.
Then it talks in the voice of a fairly gruff sounding older man.]
I usually stick to text with this thing, but as you can presumably see, Cordis has hit me a little harder than usual.
[While absolutely capable of not doing it, talking with his hands was very close to downright instinctual. With paws though, it's more like he's batting an invisible toy. Especially being a type of spotted cat that isn't all that much bigger than a domestic kitten as a fully grown adult and having his wrist rotation limited.]
So I'll get straight to the point: could someone please come open my apartment door?
I can unlock it and turn the handle, but I can't get the momentum to pull it open.
I'm pretty sure just one of my guns weighs more than I do right now.
[ooc: since he'll need assistance multiple times throughout cordis I figure there's no reason for this not to happen more than once even if he only posts the one message to the network.]

Is that you, old man?
no subject
Would be much easier if I'd been turned into an Ocelot.
no subject
So you need someone with opposable thumbs?
no subject
Broken fingers and missing hands have more work arounds than being small enough to use your boot as a bed.
[This is absolutely the voice of experience.]

Yeah, sure. And a key, no doubt.

but she's clearly feeling more approachable, more chatty, than ordinary. otherwise she wouldn't be addressing the cat at all. ]
It does seem like something of a design flaw. [ not in cats, per se, but in the entire religious, economic, and cosmic structure of the planet. ] Unless the whole point is to force you to do exactly this. Call on others for support.
[ which may lead to physical contact, which may lead to chroma, which...well—the point is already well illustrated. ]
Has anyone been by to help, yet?
video
It's possible, although perhaps it just wants to let me know how easy I was being let off with earlier transformations because I complained about needing to spend every waking moment eating.
I do still need the assistance.
video
[ if he wants her help, at any rate—she can be a cantankerous sort, maybe, but she also enjoys being useful. being helpful.
and in many ways she could imagine a stranger's intervention might be less mortifying than a friend's. ]
Give us the address—if you like—and I can pop by. I imagine I'm at the very least qualified to open a door.

supplied on arrival]
Just let me know when you arrive so I can unlock the door.

the video feed catches sight of her pulling loose curls out from under the collar of her coat. her cheeks puff. she seems to chew her lip before speaking. ]
I’m Peggy. [ she’ll still be a stranger, yes, but it might be useful to be a stranger with a name. ] And I’m on my way.
[ —give or take a quarter of an hour, she finds the corresponding door and knocks her knuckles lightly against the door. she calls a short-but-firm it’s me through the barrier with the same stilted, distant british voice used when she introduced herself. ]

[She recognizes the voice but the animal on the screen is. Well.
Her tail thumps against her bed where she sits perched on it's edge. There's no disguising the glee in her tone.]
You're so cute!
[Ahem. Hold on, she really did have something more important to say here.]
I can help you out some as well.
no subject
[Not that he's going to complain, as a cat fan he does find them cute too.]
That would be appreciated.
no subject
[She honestly seems to like doling out her help like this. Blame it partially on her canine instincts.]
This reminds me of home to be honest. I help out my classmates a lot too when I can.
no subject
[He says it fondly, not teasing right now.]
Perhaps you could pick up one of those little pet beds from the pet shop for me? I can sleep anywhere, but something a little more size appropriate may be an idea since this will last a few days. [And trying to bring one of those back to his apartment by himself would be a rough time. Like if he'd tried to drag a full sized mattress home by himself as a human.]
I'll send you some funds to cover it.
no subject
[... That sounds wrong somehow, doesn't it.]
A-anyway... yes. Right, I'll just. Go do that and stop by.
[She's good on her word too, once she has an address. It takes a bit at the pet shop as this Prismal and that coos over her ears, her tail, the curly fur she sort of hates sometimes and all. They're very touchy-feely people around here sometimes, aren't they.
When she does arrive it's with a knock at his front door at first. And then she recalls the whole reason for his post to begin with.]
Oh! Sorry. Here.
[Let her just open that front door.]

Sure. Give me your address.
If you want I can try to hook up some sort of weighted pulley system to make it easier?
sticking with video because he does not want to try texting with toe beans
[Since it wasn't like those trip wires were The Security by themselves, as much as warnings to tip him off so he was prepared to defend himself. It wasn't exactly going to compromise it by people knowing it was there.]
Here's the address.
it's rough, that's for sure
Do you have any plan on how to get back in, by the way?
Be there in 10-15 or so.
to be fair if anyone watched him texting as a human it'd be 100% peak grandpa one finger typing
Currently I'm relying on the kindness of strangers for getting back in as well as out.
[Once she's actually at the apartment his process of unlocking the door will sound a whole lot like a kitten scratching to get out the door rather than the complex acrobatics it actually is.]
i love it and him, 1/2
Good thing you've got an expert at disarming the like offering. ;)

I promise I'm not going to try to pet you, as tempting as it is. [ Her smile is taut and on the verge of laughter. ] Alright, got some wire, weights... I'm not entirely sure how to finagle it to really turn the knob but if you give me some time I should be able to figure it out. I'm less of a builder, more of a... modder. Jill of All Trades, what-have-you, but I should be able to.
[ Finally, she raises a hand. ]
Hey. Jill Valentine.
Some poor woman had to help this man convince a team he was the most qualified at computers
hey, as long as he didn't have to do the convincing, right?
Oh he did, that's the truly fun part. Because they did put him in charge of monitoring the system
my canon is much simpler. just a bunch of rolling lariats and gorilla press slams and s c i e n c e

Wow, that was pretty rude of Cordis, to be honest. Uh, I can help if you need it.
Video
[It's more a guess since, well, while he doesn't necessarily know for certain Louis originates from the same world as Legosi or Juno. The existence of similar worlds seems likely even if not necessarily the same at this point.]
It's strange but it's survivable. Most of the businesses in this world can be quite accommodating, it's all a matter of getting around what's built for me as a 6' man as a 3lb cat, so doors are going to continue being the 'biggest' problem.
[If it wasn't for the inability to take down his 'security' installation he'd think about asking for someone to open the window and just come and go as he pleased that way.]
video
Three pounds? That's it? That's tinier than I imagined.
[ what are house cats ]
no subject
[The bipedalism thing is certainly something for Ocelot to keep in mind. The concept of creatures like house cats and domestic dogs existing in such a world seemed highly unlikely, but at the same time all the ancestors of a house cat were all named variations of Location+Wild+Cat, which also seemed like a really odd potential name for a creature in such a world. This was almost certainly overthinking it though so he stuck with 'cat.']
And yet they also have something close to five times the hunting success rate of lions or tigers despite being a hundredth of the size.
[What Ocelot did not overthink was the concept of cats eating meat in a world where all forms of meat were other people. Obviously they'd do something but the concept of them simply not eating meat was not something that occurred to him given the whole 'obligate carnivore' thing.]
