I'm sick of trying to feel better about everything and being kind and showing everyone oh look moonblessed are harmless teehee let's just
be angry
anon is fine
come tell me who or what makes you angry, get it out there
[ Emerald is not anon, but she doesn't mind if any characters are. Unless otherwise stated, please assume she is not responding anonymously. She doesn't know how to cope with feelings of loss, so this is the best and most productive thing she could think of to try to get it out without wanting to punch everyone she speaks to in the face like she has for the past couple of weeks. So please, vent with her and be angry. ]

I lost my abilities two weeks before I came here. It's stupid. It was supposed to be a good thing, like, the reason I ever had my abilities in the first place was causing harm to the planet, and it was a source of constant discrimination.
But the flames were a part of me, for almost my entire life.
A living part of me.
It was like losing a piece of my family.
no subject
Is it worth it to lose that power?
no subject
That makes it sound like I was personally responsible, I guess. I wasn't. Everyone like me, the thousands of 'burnish' who could wield the flames, lost their powers too. I was just the one who made the call that resulted in us saying goodbye.
Maybe I wouldn't even be so mad, if I could still hear the flames. It's so stupid, I don't even think they miss me as much as I miss them.
no subject
Not joking I have no idea what it would be like to hear a flame constantly. That'd be hard to hear something all the time and have it be gone though.

The flames I had were sentient, living creatures called Promare. They could speak, though they sounded different depending on their mood.
If they were happy, they'd sound like children laughing. If they were upset or in pain, they had a haunting cry, like a bird call.
I wish I could find a video of what they sounded like, I doubt one exists even in my world.

Sorry you had to lose your spooky friends.

I've never seen a horror movie before so I wouldn't really know.
no subject
They're great. You've gotta fix that.
no subject
You got any recommendations? Anything with 'spooky kid ghosts'?
[That honestly might be better for his mood than this was.]

[ The dragon possesses the kids and start murdering the Prismals one by one in creepy dragon poltergeist fashion, replicating storybook scenes of dragons being slayed and burning people alive as dragons do and being generally creepy af serial killer kiddos. At some point they all sing a lullaby together and they giggle over corpses, she thinks he'd like it. ]

That sounds really good, actually.
Truth be told I haven't seen a whole lot of movies in general. I had to skip out on a good chunk of pop culture growing up. I wonder if my boyfriend would like it? He's been trying to get me to watch more stuff with him.

I'm curious to know why you're angry. Though I guess you would have said so in your post, if you'd wanted to share.

This world asks for intimacy but the second someone isn't useful anymore, they send them home.
This world is hypocritical garbage and I can't just distract myself and feel better.
no subject
I'm sorry.
[Not good enough. Think of something better than that.]
I don't know what I'd do, if I lost my partner and found myself alone here.
I'd probably go on a rampage.
Sometimes feeling better isn't an option.
no subject
You can see the results of my creative solution to not slicing anyone's guts open
Other people being pissed off is at least distracting

All of my suggestions probably aren't healthy outlets, but I guess if you wanted to burn something to the ground with me and see if that made you feel better, *I'm* certainly considering it a lot more than I was half an hour ago.
Something no one would miss, I mean.
no subject
[ but, funny enough, this is not.. the first time someone has suggested she burn things today. she said no the first time (it isn't really her thing, she's more hallucinations, chains, and sickles) but she's considering it this time. ]
I don't really get the appeal of burning stuff but I'll give it a shot as long as we're not doing anything that's going to end in me getting arrested.

Probably won't be a big fire anyway. I can't imagine setting a fire the traditional way is going to be easy.
Meet me there in an hour?
[He gave her an address, far on the edge of town, pretty much as far away from the Moon Knight's Outpost as you could get. Whenever she did arrive, Lio was already coaxing a fire in an old oil drum, dumping garbage in it to get the flames to blaze hotter. He wore a sleeveless tank top to better withstand the heat, though a firefighter's jacket was tied around his waist with a big number 3 across the sleeve and the back, just to really add to the irony of what he was doing.]
no subject
You better be "fotia" and I didn't just stumble on some rando trying to start a fire in a remote location.
[ At least she's armed in case he isn't who she's looking for. Emerald may have a lot of issues and anger, but she's at least confident in her ability to kick some ass. ]
no subject
Lio Fotia. [He responded. Yes his username was really just his last name. He actually wasn't aware it was also the Greek word for fire.] You're 'ems'? E M S? [Lio gestured to some junk he'd collected, piled up beside him.] We can start a bonfire. I mostly made this one as a starter, to see if I could. Never started a fire the old fashioned way before.
no subject
[ Emerald isn't aware her last name is Basque for "thief" either, or else she probably wouldn't use her last name. ]
How big do you think we can get it?
[ She peers over at the pile and goes to see if there's anything in there. She already has an idea. ]
Did you bring any lighter fluid or anything?
no subject
[Lio repeated with a short nod. He shrugged, in response to her first question.]
Not sure. Before, I could have set the whole city ablaze. [Said with all the confidence of someone who'd definitely done it before - though his shoulders did seem to sag a bit, like he wasn't all that proud of it.] It took me ages just to get this going.
But all I had was this. [Lio pulled a cigarette lighter out of his pocket, pink transparent plastic showing the fluid inside to have been half used up. It already looked pretty well worn.] Like I said, I'm not used to setting fires the old fashioned way. I could see about hitting up a convenience store for some, though, if you think we need it.
no subject
Let's do that. I want to douse something in it and throw it in to see if it'll explode.
[ Otherwise she's just getting flashbacks to trying to start a fire in an alley trash can so she didn't freeze to death when she was younger. She doesn't sound super excited or anything, but she's putting effort in to try this. ]
no subject
You wanna keep an eye on this and I'll go grab some? I won't be more than five minutes, and I've got Chroma to burn. [All he had to do was look for a bottle of liquid that had a big fire symbol with a bunch of warning labels, right? Piece of cake.] Probably not a good idea if we leave a fire unattended, even if it's contained.
